This product is the whole plant of Barbated Skullcup Herb (Scutellaria barbata D. Don) of the Lamiaceae family. Produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Yunnan and other places. It is harvested during the flowering period in summer, dried in the sun, and used raw or fresh.

Sedum lineare Thunb., Sedum lineare (Scutellria bulbiferum Makino) and parslane ( Scutellria alfrediiHance), etc. are also called Barbated Skullcup Herb in different regions.

[Property]

Acrid and slightly bitter, cool. act on lung, liver, spleen, stomach and large intestine channels.

Anti-cancer, subduing swelling and dissipating bind, resolving stasis to stop bleeding.

[Indications]

Tumor, appendicitis, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, abdominal retention of water, lung abscess; external use to treat mastitis, carbuncle, boil, poisonous snake bite, injury.

[Usage and Dosage]

The dosage is 15 to 30 grams, and a large amount can be used up to 60 grams; for external use, mash the fresh product and apply it to the affected area.

[Modern Pharmacology]

The flavonoids isolated from the whole plant include Skullcap Root (scutellarein), Skullcap Root glycoside (scutellarin), Carthamus hormone (carthamidin) and isocarthamidin (isocarthamidin). In addition, an alkaloid has been isolated from the ether extract, which is white needle crystals with a melting point of 148-150°C. It has been proven that the experimental formula is C₃₀

1. The yellow needle-like crystalline substance extracted from the ether extract of this product has diuretic effect in animal tests.
2. The infusion of this product has antihypertensive effects when administered intravenously to animals, but oral administration of therapeutic doses does not produce antihypertensive effects. 2. Intestinal cancer, stomach cancer, esophagus cancer, uterus neck cancer: compound formula Barbated Skullcup Herb anti-cancer injection. 2 to 4 ml each time, injected into muscle or acupoint, 2 times a day. It has better effect on intestinal cancer, stomach cancer, esophagus cancer and cervical carcinoma.
