[Variety Source]

This product is the dried root of Starwort Root (Stellaria dichotoma L. var. lanceolata Bge.) of the Caryophyllaceae plant. It is a perennial herb that grows in steppes or rock crevices. Mainly produced in Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia. Dig when the plants sprout in spring and summer or when the stems and leaves wither in autumn, remove the fibrous roots and sediment, and dry in the sun.

[Efficacy]

Clear away heat from deficiency and eliminate fever in infantile malnutrition.

[Indications]

  1. Used for yin-deficiency fever, night sweat, steaming bone fever, tidal fever, etc. This product is sweet and cold, nourishes yin, clears heat and cooling blood, reduces fever without bitterness, and regulates yin without rising. It is a good product for reducing deficiency heat and removing steaming bone fever. Often used together with Chinese Wolfberry Root-bark, Sweet Wormwood, turtle carapace, such as Bone-Clearing Powder.
  2. For infantile malnutrition with accumulation fever. This product can reduce malnutrition and fever, and can also be used to treat infantile malnutrition with accumulated fever, abdominal distension, thirst, weight loss, and scorched hair caused by food stagnation or insect accumulation in children. It is often used with Chicken's Gizzard-Skin , Quisqualis Fruit and Tangshen are used together to eliminate accumulated killing worms, strengthen the spleen and treat malnutrition.
It is one of the main raw materials of Wuji Baifeng Pills.

  1. Purification: remove impurities and wash ("Pharmacopoeia 85").
  2. Cutting:

    2. Cook and cut: Take the original medicinal materials, remove impurities and reed heads, wash them, cook them thoroughly, beat them flat and slice them ("Guangdong").

    1. Stir-frying: Take Starwort Root slices, plain stir-fry until slightly charred, take out and let cool ("Shanghai").
    2. Prepared from turtle blood and rice wine: Take Starwort Root slices, mix them with turtle blood and rice wine, drain them and dry them in the sun. For each 500g of Starwort Root, use 124g of turtle blood and 124g of rice wine ("Zhejiang").
