From Benjing Fengyuan, it is the cane or leafy cane of the dicotyledonous plant Fleeceflower (Polygonum multiflorum Thunb.). Mainly produced in Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places. Cane with leaves, harvested in summer and autumn. However, most of the products are made from canes, which are cut after the leaves fall in autumn, the twigs and remaining leaves are removed, cut into sections about 70 cm long, tied into bundles, and dried in the sun.

[Indications]

Treat insomnia, strain, profuse sweating, blood deficiency, body pain, Yongju, scrofula, wind sores and scabies. Paired with Sour Jujube, nourishing heart yin, calming the mind; paired with Unprocessed Rehmannia Root, nourishes blood and tonifying yin; paired with Asparagus Root, Ophiopogon Tuber, clears away fire and nourishes heart yin; paired with Notopterygium , Pubescent Angelica, expelling wind and eliminating dampness, Shuli joints.

Rinse with clean water, soak slightly, take out, moisten thoroughly, cut into sections and dry in the sun. Oral administration: decoction, 2 to 4 yuan. External use: boil in water and wash or pound for application.

The stems contain anthraquinones, mainly Emodin, Chrysophanic acid (Chrysophanol) or Emodinmono methyl ether, all of which exist in bound forms. The stems and leaves contain a variety of flavonoids, including luteolin-5-O-xyloside. It also contains anthraquinone compounds, and has been separated into Rhubarb Rhizoma, Rhubarb Rhizoma methyl ether, and Rhubarb Rhizoma 8-O-5-O-xyloside (luteolin-5-O-xyloside).
