This product is bitter, salty, warm, and unblocking, specifically entering the liver's blood aspect, excelling in invigorating blood and resolving stasis to relieve pain, making it an essential medicine for treating various pains caused by blood stasis. It is often used in combination with Typha to enhance efficacy, known as Sudden Smile Powder. For heart chest impediment and stabbing pain, it is often paired with Sichuan Lovage Rhizome, Salvia, and frankincense and myrrh. For epigastric and abdominal pain, it is paired with Corydalis Tuber, Cyperus, and myrrh, such as in the Yixue Xinwu Shounian Powder. For dysmenorrhea and amenorrhea, it is paired with Chinese Angelica and motherwort herb. For fracture swelling and pain, it is paired with common bletilla pseudobulb, frankincense, and myrrh, ground into powder for external application, as in the "Qiankun Shengyi Miyun" formula.
- It is used for hemorrhagic syndromes caused by static blood obstruction and blood not following its normal path, such as women's blood stasis menorrhagia and metrostaxis. When stir-fried, it can resolve stasis to stop bleeding. For static blood menorrhagia and metrostaxis, hypermenorrhea with purple clots and lower abdominal stabbing pain, it can be stir-fried and ground into powder, taken with warm wine, such as in the "Yonglei Lingfang" Trogopterus Dung Powder. Clinically, it is often paired with Sanqi, Typha, and Unprocessed Rehmannia Root.
- Additionally, this product can also treat snake, scorpion, and centipede bites, removing toxins and dispersing swelling to relieve pain, and can be taken internally or applied externally. It is often paired with Realgar.
