This product is the root bark of Acanthopanax gracilistylus (Acanthopanax gracilistylus W. W. Smith), a small deciduous shrub of Araliaceae. Mainly produced in Hubei, Henan, Anhui and other places. Excavated in summer and autumn. Peel off the root bark. Dry. Cut into thick slices and use raw.

Acanthopanax Bark recorded in the archaeological materia medica is derived from Araliaceae plants. Plants of the same family, Manyprickle Acanthopanax (A. senticosus (Rupr. et Maxim.)
