This product is the mature fruit of Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides Ellis), an evergreen shrub plant of the India Madder Root family. Produced in the provinces south of the Yangtze River in my country. Harvested in autumn and winter. Used raw, stir-frying to brown or stir-frying to scorch.

[Indications]

1. Used for Rebing. This product is bitter and cold, clears and purges triple energizer of fire pathogens, and has the effect of resolving depression and discharging heat. It is used for warm febrile disease, evil heat guest's heart, upset, depression, restlessness and other symptoms. Whenever used in combination with Fermented Soybean, it can release evil heat, relieve depression and relieve troubles, such as Gardenia and Fermented Soybean Decoction. If fire toxin is strong, high fever dysphoria, unconsciousness delirious speech, triple energizer are all hot, it is often associated with Skullcap Root, Coptis Rhizome, Phelloendron Bark is used together to directly deflect the fire, such as Coptis Detoxification Decoction.
2. For dampness-heat jaundice. This product can clear and disinhibit the liver and gallbladder and eliminate jaundice. Used for jaundice, fever, short and red urine caused by liver-gallbladder dampness-heat stagnation. Often used in combination with Virgate Wormwood and Rhubarb Rhizoma, such as Virgate Wormwood Soup.
3. It is used for blood heat and vomiting. This product also has the effect of clearing heat and cooling blood removing toxin. It is used for hematemesis, epistaxis, hematuria and other diseases caused by blood heat. It is often used with lalang grass rhizome, Unprocessed Rehmannia Root Huang, Skullcap Root is used equally.
4. Used for sore and ulcer swelling, bruises and injuries. Cooling blood to remove toxin, subduing swelling to relieve pain, also used for heat toxin sore and ulcer, redness, swelling, heat pain, often used with Lonicera, Forsythia , Dandelion and other medicines.

[Usage and Dosage]

Decoct and take, 3~10g. Gardenia peel (peel) tends to express the skin and remove heat from the skin; Gardenia kernels (seeds) tend to travel inwards and clear away internal heat. When used raw, it goes into the qi aspect and relieves fire; when fried black, it enters into the blood aspect and stops bleeding.

This product is bitter, cold and hurts the stomach, and should not be used by those with spleen deficiency or loose stool.

[Modern Pharmacology]

This product contains Gardenia glycosides, Gardenia glycosides, dehydroxylated Gardenia glycosides, saffron crocus style and stigma acids, and saffron crocus style and stigma acids. The peel contains ursolic acid.

Gardenia decoction and alcohol extract have choleretic effects, can promote the secretion of gall fel, reduce blood bilirubin, and promote the rapid excretion of bilirubin in the blood.
