It is mainly produced in Zhejiang, Anhui, Henan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, and other regions. The fruit is harvested in late autumn and early winter. It is processed by mild fire baking or briefly scalded in boiling water, and the pit is promptly removed. It is then dried in the sun or by baking for use.

It can both tonify the kidney and replenish essence, as well as warm the kidney and assist yang; it can tonify both yin and yang, making it an essential herb for tonifying the liver and kidney. This product mainly contains Asiatic Cornelian Cherry Fruit glycosides, saponins, tannins, ursolic acid, nutgall acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, and vitamin A.
