It is used to treat edema, heat strangury, and short, red, and painful urination. It is often combined with Gardenia and Talc and other heat-clearing and diuretic herbs, such as Danxi Xinfa Qi-Dispersing Powder. This herb has mild efficacy and is only suitable for mild conditions or as an adjunct to other heat-clearing and diuretic herbs.
- Used for heart heat with irritability, infantile night crying, and fright epilepsy. Rush Pith can clear heart fire. For excessive heat in the heart meridian, restlessness, insomnia, mouth and tongue sores, and short, red, and painful urination, it can be used to guide the heat from the heart meridian downward and expel it through urination. It is often combined with Lophatherum Herb and Gardenia. For exuberance of heart fire, mental restlessness, infantile night crying, or fright epilepsy, it can be decocted alone or combined with Bamboo Leaf and cicada slough and other heart-clearing and spirit-tranquilizing herbs.
