This product is a perennial herb of the Lily Bulb family, Yunnan Paris Root (Paris polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis (Franch.) Hand. Mzt.) or Paris Root (Paris polyphylla Smith var. chinensis (France.) Hara). It is found both in the north and south, mainly produced in the Yangtze River basin and southern provinces. It is harvested in late autumn and early winter. After removing the fibrous roots, it is washed, dried, and sliced for use.
