This product is the mature fruit of Perilla Leaf (Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt.), an herbaceous plant of the Lamiaceae family. Mainly produced in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and other places. Harvest the fruits when they are ripe in autumn and dry them in the sun. Use raw or lightly stir-fried, and mash when used.

[Indications]

1. Used for phlegm counterflow and cough panting. This product is good at descending qi and resolving phlegm. It can lower qi and eliminate phlegm, so that cough and asthma can be relieved. Often paired with white mustard seed, radish seed, namely Three-Seed Filial Devotion Decoction. If chronic cough disease with upper excess and lower deficiency is phlegm and asthma, use Cassia Bark, Chinese Angelica, Magnolia Bark, etc. to warm the kidney to resolve phlegm lowering qi products, such as Perilla Fruit Qi-Descending Decoction.
2. Used for constipation of intestinal dryness. This product contains fat, which can moisturize and smooth the intestines, and can reduce lung qi to help conduction in the large intestine. Often paired with Bitter Apricot Seed, Hemp Seed, Trichosanthes Seed, etc., such as Jisheng Fang Perilla Leaf Hemp Seed Porridge.
