[Indications]

1. For high fever and polydipsia. This product is pungent and sweet in nature and cold in nature. It is pungent to release flesh and reduce fever. It is cold to clear heat and purging fire. It is sweet and cold to relieve irritability and quench thirst. It is an important medicine for clearing and purging the lung and stomach qi aspect of the second meridian. Suitable for warm febrile disease in qi aspect, high fever, polydipsia, sweating, heavy pulse and other excess heat syndrome/pattern. Often used with Anemarrhena for mutual reinforcement, such as White Tiger Decoction. If the warm evil gradually enters the blood aspect, blazing of both qi and blood and causing macula and papule, it should be treated with Unprocessed Rehmannia Root and other heat-clearing and blood-cooling medicinal are used together, with two clearing aspects of blood, such as Ecchymosis-Dissipating Decoction.
2. Used for lung heat and cough. This product is pungent and cold, entering the lung meridian, clearing lung heat, relieving cough and asthma. It is used for diseases such as heat stagnation of the lungs, shortness of breath, panting, cough with thick phlegm, fever and thirst. Often combined with Ephedra, Bitter Apricot Seed and other medicinals, such as Ephedra, Bitter Apricot Seed, Gypsum and Licorice Decoction.
3. For stomach fire toothache. This product functions to clear stomach fire and is also used for inflammation of stomach fire, headache, gum swelling and pain. It is often combined with Cimicifuga Rhizome, Coptis Rhizome, etc. medicinals, such as Stomach-Clearing Powder.
4. It is used for sore and ulcer. This product has the effects of clearing away heat and removing moisture, healing up sore and promoting granulation.
