This product is the dry near-ripe or mature fruit ear of long pepper (Piper longum L.) of the Pepper Fruit family. It is native to Sumatra in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, and is cultivated in Yunnan and Hainan Islands in China. Between September and October, when the ears turn from green to black, they are harvested, impurities are removed, and dried in the sun. The ones that are long and fat, dark brown in color, firm in texture, slightly red in cross-section and have a strong flavor are the best.

[Indications]
Used for epigastric cold pain, vomiting, diarrhea, migraine; external treatment toothache. Recently, it is useful in treating coronary heart disease and heart colicky pain.
[Usage and Dosage]
1.5~3g. Appropriate amount for external use, grind into powder and plug into the holes of dental caries. Mash when used.
