bubble_chart Formula Principles
This formula is derived from the integration and modification of three classical prescriptions: the White Tiger Decoction from the Shanghan Lun, the Peony Root and Rehmannia Decoction from the Xiaopin Fang as cited in the Waitai Miyao, and the Coptis Detoxification Decoction from the Cui's Formulas as cited in the Waitai Miyao. In this formula, Gypsum is used in large quantities along with Anemarrhena and Liquorice Root to clear heat from the Yangming channel. The combination of Coptis Rhizome, Skullcap Root, and Gardenia is employed to purge the intense fire from the triple energizer. Rhinoceros Horn, Moutan Bark, Unprocessed Rehmannia Root, and Red Peony Root are specifically used to cool the blood, remove toxins, and resolve stasis. Forsythia, Scrophularia Root, Platycodon Root, and Liquorice Root work together to clear heat, expel pathogenic factors, and benefit the throat. Bamboo Leaf is used to clear heart heat and promote diuresis, guiding the heat downward. The combination of these herbs not only clears fire from the qi aspect but also cools heat from the blood aspect, making it a primary formula for treating the blazing of both qi and blood.
