bubble_chart Overview

Nasal vestibulitis is a diffuse inflammation of the skin in the nasal vestibule. Frequent nose picking, acute or chronic rhinitis and sinusitis, irritation from secretions due to allergies or foreign bodies in the nose (common in children), and prolonged exposure to dust (such as cement, asbestos, skin and hair, tobacco, etc.) in the work environment can easily induce or worsen the condition.

bubble_chart Diagnosis

It is divided into acute and chronic types. In the acute form, the skin of the nasal vestibule becomes red, swollen, and painful. In severe cases, it may extend to the junction of the upper lip, with tenderness, epidermal erosion, and crust formation. In the chronic form, the nasal vestibule becomes itchy, burning, and crusted, with loss of nasal hair, thickening of the skin, rhagades, or scale-like crusts.

bubble_chart Treatment Measures

Reduce inflammation and swelling, clean scabs, eliminate disease causes, and correct nose-picking habits. Apply nasal ointment or antibiotic ointment locally 3-4 times daily. For rhagades, cauterize with 10-20% silver nitrate solution first. For acute sexually transmitted disease cases, add local hot compresses or infrared physiotherapy. Severe cases may require systemic anti-inflammatory medication.
