- If there is severe deficiency and slippery leakage, add Cherokee Rose Fruit 2-3 qian, or 1 qian of vinegar-fried clams, or Smoked Plum two pieces.
- If there is yin deficiency with mild fever and unstable menstrual blood, add 2 qian of Sichuan Dipsacus.
- If there is insufficient yang qi in the lower energizer accompanied by abdominal pain and sloppy diarrhea, add Psoralea and Evodia Fruit as appropriate.
- If there is liver and kidney blood deficiency, with small abdominal pain and blood not following the meridian, add 2-3 qian of Chinese Angelica.
- If there is spleen deficiency with excessive dampness or accompanied by nausea and vomiting, add 1-2 qian of White Atractylodes Rhizome.
- If there is qi sinking and instability, add 1 qian of fried Cimicifuga Rhizome.
- If accompanied by heart deficiency and insomnia or profuse sweating, add 2 qian of fried jujube seeds.
