bubble_chart Formula Principles

This formula is targeted at symptoms resembling those of Minor Center-Fortifying Decoction, but with a more pronounced physical decline, including spontaneous sweating, night sweats, frequent abdominal muscle cramps, rectal urgency, abdominal pain, and severe pain in the lower back or chest, along with palpitations, dry lips, vertigo, shortness of breath, and general fatigue. It is often used for conditions resulting from overwork and physical depletion, or poor recovery after illness. It is also suitable for dry skin, other suppurative diseases, and common colds in individuals with a subcutaneous nodular constitution. This formula is essentially Minor Center-Fortifying Decoction with the addition of Chinese Angelica and Astragalus Root. The original formula works by sweet and warm properties to support the spleen and stomach, starting from the central palace to facilitate distribution to the zang-fu organs and all meridians. The addition of Chinese Angelica tonifies the blood, while Astragalus Root powerfully tonifies the primordial qi, thereby strengthening the body's capacity to recover from the five kinds of strain and seven types of fatigue. Astragalus Root also enhances skin nutrition, with effects of consolidating the exterior, promoting tissue regeneration, expelling pus, and strengthening the heart. The combination of these herbs enhances blood circulation, promotes metabolism, and improves the functions of the spleen and stomach.
