bubble_chart Formula Principles

This formula is a diaphoretic used for external contraction without sweating, aversion to cold, and stiffness in the neck and back. It is most commonly used as a remedy for the common cold and has significant efficacy. It can also treat enteritis and the early stages of dysentery, especially when fever is accompanied by aversion to cold. This formula is essentially the Cinnamon Twig Decoction with the addition of Pueraria Root and Ephedra. In the formula, Pueraria Root plays the primary role. Pueraria Root can promote the production of body fluids, clear the muscles, enhance superficial blood circulation to relieve fever, and stimulate intestinal contraction to facilitate excretion. Ephedra, combined with Liquorice Root, can treat cough, relax superficial tension, and, when appropriately paired with Cinnamon Twig, has a diaphoretic effect. Cinnamon Twig regulates blood circulation. Peony Root enhances digestive system function and has a tonic effect. Liquorice Root detoxifies the liver. Chinese Date has a moisturizing effect. Fresh Ginger Rhizome aids blood circulation, supports the middle burner, and unblocks the meridians. Therefore, this formula is not only commonly used for febrile sexually transmitted diseases in the exterior syndrome/pattern but is also applicable to a wide range of non-febrile conditions, regardless of the presence of fever or aversion to cold. It can be used for symptoms such as a floating and forceful pulse, tension and inflammation in the neck and back, diarrhea, or acute spasms. Its scope of application is very broad.
