bubble_chart Efficacy

Nourishing blood and dispelling wind, clearing heat and drying dampness.

bubble_chart Indications

Wind-dampness invades the blood vessels, leading to sores, incessant itching, and urticaria in both adults and children, with scattered red spots appearing and disappearing intermittently.

bubble_chart Formula Principles

The syndrome treated by this formula is caused by the invasion of wind-toxin pathogens into the body, which contend with dampness-heat, leading to internal stagnation and external obstruction, resulting in the accumulation of pathogens in the skin's striae and interstice. Therefore, symptoms such as skin itching or fluid discharge are observed. Itching arises from wind, and to stop itching, dispersing wind is essential. Thus, the formula primarily uses Schizonepeta, Saposhnikovia Root, Great Burdock Achene, and Cicada Slough to open the striae and interstice and expel the wind pathogens on the surface. Due to the contention of dampness-heat causing fluid discharge, Atractylodes Rhizome is used for its pungent, bitter, and warm properties to disperse wind and eliminate dampness, while Sophora is used for its bitter and cold properties to clear heat and dry dampness to stop itching, and Akebia Stem is used to drain dampness and heat as auxiliary medicinals. Since wind-heat affects the skin and involves the blood aspect, Chinese Angelica is used to harmonize the nutrient and resolve stasis, Unprocessed Rehmannia Root to clear heat and cool blood, sesame seed to nourish blood and moisten dryness, and Gypsum and Anemarrhena to enhance the ability to clear heat and purge fire, all serving as assistant medicinals. Liquorice Root is used to remove toxins and harmonize the other medicinals as the guiding medicinal. Together, the formula has the functions of dispersing wind, clearing heat, eliminating dampness, and reducing swelling. For better efficacy, this formula can be taken orally in combination with external treatments.
