Rhubarb Rhizoma (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei) peeled, washed with wine 12gm (4 liǎng)
Liquorice Root (Radix Glycyrrhizae) roasted 6gm (2 liǎng)
Mirabilite (Natrii Sulfas) (melt) 10gm (half shēng)

The first three ingredients are boiled in 600cc (three liters) of water until reduced to 200cc (one liter). The dregs are then removed, and Mirabilite is added. The mixture is heated again until it boils slightly, and then it is taken warm in small amounts.
