bubble_chart Formula Principles

This prescription is for dampness injury lumbago caused by the belt vessel being affected by cold-dampness. Jingui Yaolue refers to it as "cold-dampness lumbago syndrome," hence it is also known as cold-dampness lumbago decoction. When cold-dampness invades the belt vessel and lingers, it results in lumbago accompanied by a cold sensation and a heavy, sinking feeling. Since the cold-dampness pathogen has not reached the kidneys but remains in the muscles, which govern the transformation and transportation of water-dampness, the treatment does not focus on the kidneys but rather on warming the spleen and eliminating dampness to relieve pain. The formula uses Dried Ginger and Liquorice Root to warm the spleen, dispel cold, and harmonize the middle; Poria and White Atractylodes Rhizome to strengthen the spleen and remove dampness. The combination of these four herbs drives out cold and transforms dampness, thereby resolving all symptoms.
