This formula is derived from the modifications of three formulas: White Tiger Decoction from the "Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases," Peony Root Rehmannia Decoction from the "Waitai Miyao" citing the "Xiaopin Fang," and Coptis Detoxification Decoction from the "Waitai Miyao" citing the "Cui's Formula." The formula heavily uses Gypsum combined with Anemarrhena and Liquorice Root to clear the heat of the Yangming; Coptis Rhizome, Skullcap Root, and Gardenia are used together to purge the excess fire of the triple energizer; Rhinoceros Horn, Moutan Bark, Unprocessed Rehmannia Root, and Red Peony Root specifically cool the blood to remove toxins and resolve stasis; Forsythia, Scrophularia Root, Platycodon Root, and Liquorice Root clear heat and expel pathogenic factors, benefiting the throat; Bamboo Leaf clears the heart and promotes urination, guiding heat downward. The combination of these herbs not only clears the fire of the qi aspect but also cools the heat of the blood aspect, making it a primary formula for treating the blazing of both qi and blood.
