bubble_chart Formula Principles
This formula is derived from the White Tiger Decoction. The White Tiger Decoction is indicated for cases of strong vital qi and excessive pathogenic factors, while this formula is indicated for cases where the intense heat has subsided but residual heat remains, accompanied by damage to both qi and body fluids. In this formula, Bamboo Leaf and Gypsum are used as the monarch herbs to resolve depression and discharge heat, thereby eliminating pathogenic heat. Ginseng and Ophiopogon Tuber are used as the minister herbs to tonify qi and promote fluid production, thereby addressing the deficiency of vital qi. Pinellia is used to counteract the counterflow of liver qi and stop vomiting. Although it is warm in nature, when combined with heat-clearing and fluid-promoting herbs, its warm and drying properties are neutralized, while its ability to descend counterflow and transport body fluids is preserved. It also helps restore spleen function, harmonize stomach qi, and alleviate the stagnation caused by Ginseng and Ophiopogon Tuber, serving as an assistant herb. Liquorice Root and rice are used as the envoy herbs to nourish and regulate stomach qi. When all these herbs are used together, they can clear residual heat, replenish consumed qi and yin, and address both pathogenic factors and vital qi, making this formula a moistening and tonifying agent. It can be used in cases of persistent fever during the recovery process, where both qi and yin are damaged.
