bubble_chart Efficacy

Descending qi and relieving dyspnea, eliminating phlegm and stopping cough.

bubble_chart Indications

Shortness of breath and cough, profuse phlegm, chest and diaphragm fullness, upper excess and lower deficiency; or lower back pain, weak feet, limb fatigue, or limb swelling, tongue coating white and slippery or white and greasy.

bubble_chart Formula Principles

This prescription is primarily used to treat cough and asthma caused by upper excess and lower deficiency, with the main focus on upper excess. Therefore, the treatment should mainly focus on descending qi and relieving dyspnea, supplemented by arming the kidney to improve qi reception. In the prescription, cultivated purple perilla fruit descends qi and relieves dyspnea; Pinellia dries dampness and resolves phlegm; Magnolia Bark lowers qi and eliminates phlegm; Peucedanum diffuses the lung to downbear counterflow; Cassia Bark arms the kidney to improve qi reception to calm asthma; Chinese Angelica nourishes blood to moisten dryness and mainly treats cough with dyspnea; Liquorice Root harmonizes all the herbs; Fresh Ginger Rhizome and Chinese Date harmonize the middle, dispel phlegm, and disperse cold to regulate qi. The combination of these herbs uses both descending qi and improving qi reception, with descending qi as the main focus, to lower qi and dissipate phlegm, thereby naturally calming cough and asthma.
