bubble_chart Efficacy
Releasing exterior with pungent-cool, clearing heat and removing toxin.
bubble_chart Indications
At the onset of warm disease, the exterior heat pattern presents with fever, slight aversion to cold, absence of sweating or inhibited sweating, headache, cough, sore throat, thirst with a desire to drink, red edges and tip of the tongue, thin white or thin yellow coating, and a floating and rapid pulse.
bubble_chart Formula Principles
This formula is suitable for external contraction of wind-heat and is one of the representative formulas for releasing the exterior with pungent-cool. In the formula, Lonicera and Forsythia clear heat and remove toxins, with a penetrating effect, thus achieving the function of releasing the exterior with pungent-cool. The combination of Mentha and Great Burdock Achene releases the exterior with pungent-cool and benefits the throat. Fermented Soybean and Schizonepeta disperse wind and expel pathogens through the exterior. Although they are pungent and warm, they are warm without being drying, and when used together with heat-clearing medicinals, they enhance the effect of releasing the exterior with pungent-cool. Lophatherum Herb clears heat from the upper energizer, enhancing the heat-clearing and toxin-removing effects of Lonicera and Forsythia. Platycodon Root ventilates the lungs and benefits the throat, and when combined with Liquorice Root, it also resolves phlegm and relieves cough. Reed Rhizome clears heat and promotes fluid production to quench thirst. Liquorice Root harmonizes all the medicinals.
This formula is more effective when used in spring and summer.
