titleThere is A Way to Ban Cinnabar
[content]

Li Zhengyu physician/doctor of Chinese medicine

Modern cinnabar is made using different ancient methods, grinding the root of the nose at high speed and high temperature, which is easy to oxidize and produce highly toxic; and some drug dealers are not clear about it and use hydrargyri oxydum rubrum and minium instead, resulting in poisoning cases There are many. Prohibition is indeed the only feasible way under the premise of safe medication use.

After the Chinese medicine committee of the Department of Health announced the ban on "cinnabar", many practitioners and researchers in the Chinese medicine field asked for my opinion and secretly agreed to support it. This surprised everyone and thought that it was a ban on Chinese medicine. I have spared no efforts in promotion and research, so I actually voted in favor, and I would like to explain it as follows:

cinnabar follows the ancient method, using an old-style foot grinding groove, grinding it finely, and fully grinding with water to remove the attached marble. Without using high speed or high temperature, you will definitely not be poisoned no matter how you take it. Cinnabar raw ore was formed after volcanic explosions expelling pathogens from exterior, and was refined at high temperatures. Its structural formula is extremely stable. As everyone who studies chemistry knows, aluminum oxide is composed of six molecules bonded together, which is very stable. It will not be hydrolyzed, will not be absorbed in the Changwei tract, and will not be deposited in the liver and kidneys.

However, there are several problems with cinnabar currently available in Taiwan. If these problems are not solved, even if Jingshui is taken sufficiently, it will still be poisoned after long-term use and damage the liver, kidneys, brain, and spinal cord nerves. First of all, I am a pharmacy practitioner who has unclear identification of drugs. I use "hydrargyri oxydum rubrum" instead of cinnabar, or use "Minium" instead of cinnabar. After taking it, I develop lead poisoning. The chemical structure of cinnabar is HgS and it does not contain lead at all. Why do I take it? On the contrary, pearl sand can lead to lead poisoning. The reason is that pharmacies are deceived by dealers and do not have sufficient identification capabilities of drugs.

Secondly, the machines in the current industrial society are extremely efficient. The problem lies in the extremely efficient high-speed grinding machines. Under high-speed grinding, they generate high temperatures and burn the "sulfur-S" in the raw cinnabar ore, just like the high-speed grinding machines. Road car tires generally form S203, and HgS has two possibilities. One is the combination of Hg and 02; Germline Hg forms free mercury ions Hg+. Both are highly toxic and are easily absorbed in the human digestive tract epithelial cells and precipitate in the spinal nerves of the brain and spine, affecting Nerve activity, the composition and amount of neuroendocrine and neurotransmitter media, and hinder the conduction speed of nerves. At the same time, it can cause great damage to liver and kidney function. A small amount can cause liver and kidney failure, restlessness, panic, convulsion, spleen, irritability, rage, or chronic illness, hallucinations, and auditory hallucinations, which can harm life. If you take a large amount of it, sometimes you don't know how you die.

Take Taizong of the Tang Dynasty as an example. Taizong of the Tang Dynasty originally had "foot taiyin phlegm syncope head disease" (note: it is vertigo disease, but it is not known whether it is the brain or eyes, ears, neck muscles and blood vessels. , or caused by cessation of water in the upper and lower organs of the diaphragm membrane, or insufficient blood sugar... In short, it is suffering from vertigo disease). Take the "spiritual medicine" of Alchemist Narol Shapomei that Wang Xuance brought back when he attacked Beitianzhu. "Eer Da Jian" means sudden death; the imperial doctor arrived, but he did not know how to provide first aid and died immediately. This incident was recorded in the Tang Dynasty's Du Chuan. Since Taizong, seven or eight out of ten emperors of the Tang Dynasty died after taking the "vermilion pill". In "Shanghan Zabing Lun", it is mentioned that "realgar is close to fire and is as poisonous as arsenic. In fact, realgar and cinnabar are both poisonous to fire, and realgar is As2 S3, heated satin is As203 or As2O2 sub>, 100% arsenic. There are many folk medicines that grind the cinnabar at high speed, grinding with water, and then exercise it on the pot, thinking that this is the medicinal property warming and tonifying. I don’t know that it will self-activate once it is dry-fried at high heat. Smoldering, the sulfur burns completely, forming oxidized mercury and mercury ions, how can it not be poisoned and kill people. Unless the large cinnabar dealers on the market can adopt three methods when grinding cinnabar, otherwise cinnabar is best Disabled.

The first is to restore the original ancient foot-operated grinding method, and then grind with water to fully clean it.

The second is to grind at high speed, but a large amount of cooling must be injected into the grinder. The water is constantly flushed out to keep the temperature inside the grinding machine the same as room temperature, or even lower, so that the sulfur in the mercury has no chance to burn and volatilize, and the mercury has no chance to form mercury ions or oxidized mercury.

The third one is sold in pharmacies Personnel must not roast cinnabar

However, it is extremely difficult to meet these three requirements at present, so it is best to ban it, but the physician/doctor of Chinese medicine should be retained to have the prescription and dispensing of cinnabar as a last resort in emergencies. The right to substitute other medicines as soon as the symptoms are relieved.
