For soothing the liver or dispersing stagnant fire, the dosage should be light (mostly 3-9g). For clearing and resolving stagnant heat, the dosage should be heavy, mostly 15-30g (using Bupleurum to clear heat with a small dosage is ineffective), and there is no risk of depleting liver yin.
