Mr. Gong, male, 35 years old, first consultation on July 5, 1982. Chief complaint: After going out for a tour, felt extremely tired and weak upon returning home in the evening. The next morning, experienced headache and body pain, aversion to cold with fever, spontaneous sweating, and thirst. Consulted a Chinese medicine practitioner, who believed it was caused by the alternation of cold and heat, and prescribed a diaphoretic formula. After taking the medicine, the headache became severe as if splitting, fever with sweating, restlessness, and unconsciousness.
Examination: Pulse is full and large, tongue coating is thin and white, body temperature is 38.5°C.
Pattern identification: Due to the previous doctor's mistaken use of diaphoresis, leading to the depletion of body fluids, resulting in the above symptoms.
Treatment method: Prescribed Baihu Ginseng Decoction with modifications.
Prescription: Raw Gypsum 50g, Anemarrhena 20g, Tangshen 40g, Prepared Liquorice Root 15g, rice 30g, Ophiopogon Tuber 20g
Decocted with water, divided into 3 doses, 2 doses.
Second consultation: July 6, headache, aversion to cold, and fever have all reduced, sweating has stopped, restlessness, thirst, and unconsciousness have all disappeared. Tongue coating is pale white, body temperature is 37.2°C. Spirit is good, appetite is normal. Advised to continue taking the original prescription for 3 more doses to recover.
