Chen, female. Suffered from cold-damage disease for more than ten days without relief, received injections at the factory clinic without effect, and mistakenly took pills that caused diarrhea, still not recovering.
The patient experienced alternating chills and fever, fullness and discomfort in the chest and hypochondrium, fever worsening in the afternoon, watery diarrhea, bitter taste in the mouth, and dizzy vision. Initially took Minor Bupleurum Decoction for 2 doses, after which the fever subsided, but tidal fever persisted in the afternoon. According to Article 104 of the "Treatise on Cold-Damage Diseases," "First, Minor Bupleurum Decoction should be taken to relieve the exterior, then Bupleurum Plus Sodium Sulfate Decoction should be used as the main treatment." Using this decoction (Bupleurum, Skullcap Root, Ginseng, Prepared Liquorice Root, Fresh Ginger Rhizome, Pinellia, Chinese Date, Mirabilite), after taking it, the bowel movements became smooth, passing 6-7 dry black stools, and all symptoms alleviated. Later, Minor Bupleurum Decoction was used without Skullcap Root but with Peony Root and Cinnamon Twig added, 1 dose, after which the patient recovered and was discharged.
