Gong Ting-xian (1522-1619), courtesy name Zicai, pseudonym Yunlin Mountain Man, also known as Wuzhenzi, was from Jinxi, Jiangxi. His father, Gong Xin, courtesy name Xiyuan or Ruizhi, served in the Taiyiyuan and authored the Gujin Yijian in 8 volumes. Tingxian initially pursued scholarly studies but later followed his father into medicine. He inherited the family's medical knowledge, sought out renowned teachers, and his reputation as a physician grew. He once served as a clerk in the Taiyiyuan. In 1593, he cured the tympanites of Princess Zhang of Lu, earning the title "Foremost Physician in the World" and was awarded a plaque inscribed with "Top Scholar in Medicine."

Gong Ting-xian authored: Zhong Xing Xian Fang in 4 volumes (1577), Wanbing Huichun in 8 volumes (1587), Fuming Yanfang Waike Shenyan Quanshu in 6 volumes (1591), Yunlin Shen Gou (1591), Lu Fu Jin Fang in 4 volumes (1594), Shoushi Baoyuan in 10 volumes (1615), Xiao'er Tuina Fangmai Quanshu in 3 volumes (1604). He also wrote Yixue Zhunsheng in 4 volumes, Jingshi Quanshu in 8 volumes, Smallpox Bianyi Quanyou Lu in 3 volumes, Materia Medica Processing of Materia Medica Medicinal Property Fu Dingheng in 13 volumes, among others. Some works were also attributed to the Gong family.

Among the above works, Wanbing Huichun and Shoushi Baoyuan were the most widely circulated.

Xiao'er Tuina Fangmai Quanshu introduces various massage techniques and the diseases they treat, accompanied by illustrations.

Gong Xin's Gujin Yijian was completed with the assistance and additions of Gong Ting-xian. His younger brother Tingqi and nephew Maoguan were also physicians and held medical official positions. The Gong family's works were straightforward and practical, and were transmitted to countries like Japan and Korea.
