[description]
Huang Yuan-yu (1705~1758), named Yulu, courtesy name Yuanyu, and nickname Yannong, was a native of Changyi County (Weifang, Shandong) and a famous medical scientist in the early Qing Dynasty. When he was a student, his left eye was damaged due to wrong medicine by a quack doctor, so he set out to study medicine. Huang practiced medicine and treated diseases throughout his life and was engaged in medical theoretical writings. There are 11 kinds of medical books in 98 volumes only in the "Manuscript of Qing History". Among them, "Su Ling Wei Yun", "Four Sacred Heart Sources", Changsha Yaojie, "disease caused by cold meaning", "Yugao Medicine Solution", "disease caused by cold xuanjie", "Jingui Xuanjie" and "Four Saints Xuanjie" are commonly known as "Eight Types of Huang's Medical Books". He also studied the Book of Changes intensively and wrote "Xuanjie of Zhouyi". His medical books were spread to Japan, Korea and Southeast Asian countries in the late Qing Dynasty. His views on "supporting yang and suppressing yin" to cure diseases and prolong life and to warm up the Double Ninth Festival are unique among doctors.
