Liu Wan-su authored a single volume, published in 1186. The main versions currently available include the Liu Hejian's three books on cold-damage disease edition, and the annotated edition by the People's Medical Publishing House in 1983, among others. The book places great emphasis on the use of theories such as five circuits six qi, and the rise and fall of victory and recovery, to analyze and elucidate the characteristics and patterns of human disease onset.

In terms of understanding disease mechanisms, the author also summarized the Neijing nineteen disease mechanisms, highlighting the characteristics of the listed disease conditions and concluding that "fire Rebing" is predominant. Creatively, the author proposed principles for treating fire Rebing, such as using pungent and cool herbs to release the exterior, and purging heat to nourish yin, thereby changing the century-old practice of using pungent and warm methods to treat external-contraction febrile diseases. This idea became the main theoretical foundation for the later Cold and Cool School and had a significant impact on the formation and development of warm diseases during the Ming and Qing periods.

The book advocates the Neijing theory of "exuberance causing harm and restraint bringing control," further deepening and developing the five elements theory of restriction and generation, and applying it to the study of disease mechanisms and treatment. This opened a new path for understanding the relationship between the essence and manifestations of disease changes.

The book is a representative work of Liu Wan-su. After its publication, its influence grew increasingly, marking an important beginning for the rise of innovative medical theories during the Jin and Yuan dynasties. However, from the perspective of the text, the overemphasis on fire Rebing, though intended to correct biases, also had its own partiality, which has been criticized by later generations.
