bubble_chart Description The Fuxingjue Zangfu Yongyao Fayao scroll from the Dunhuang manuscripts applies the theory of the five elements, using the framework of the five elements to diagnose and treat the five zang-organs and six fu-organs, and to select prescriptions and medications. Among them, the Six Deities Formula for Decoction and five formulas for rescuing sudden death are the essence of the text, holding special significance.
Fuxingjue Zangfu Yongyao Fayao preserves 47 ancient formulas, 18 of which are nearly identical to the classical formulas in Zhang Zhong-jing?s "Treatise on Cold Damage and Miscellaneous Diseases," and closely related to the content of the "Decoction Classic" recorded in the "Han Shu?Yi Wen Zhi." The ancient medical formulas in both texts originate from the ancient medical text "Decoction Classic."
The so-called "classical formulas" refer to a general term for medical formulas predating the Han Dynasty. The "Han Shu?Yi Wen Zhi?Fang Ji Lue" specifically discusses the meaning of "classical formulas" and records 11 types of works on "classical formulas," totaling 274 volumes. These are all medical texts from before the Western Han Dynasty, but they have long been lost. Although Zhang Zhong-jing and others quoted some fragments of ancient "classical formulas" in their medical texts, many are missing. Through Fuxingjue Zangfu Yongyao Fayao, many long-lost ancient "classical formulas" have been rediscovered, opening a path to resolving many long-debated and unresolved cases.
