This book is also known as Yitong Daquan, a comprehensive medical encyclopedia compiled by Xu Chun-fu. It was completed in the 35th year of the Jiajing era (1556) and published the following year. Later editions include the 4th year of the Longqing era (1570) edition, the Jiaqing era edition, and in Japan, the 3rd year of the Meireki era (1657) edition and the Manji era edition.

The entire book consists of 100 volumes. Volume 1 includes "Biographies of Renowned Physicians Through the Ages," introducing over 270 medical practitioners, and "Bibliography of Cited Works," listing approximately 280 referenced books. Volumes 2 to 5 cover Neijing Essentials, Supplementary Medical Examinations, Neijing Pulse Diagnosis, Overview of Five Movements and Six Climates, etc.; Volumes 6 to 7 discuss meridian point acupuncture and moxibustion; Volumes 8 to 92 detail clinical treatments for various specialties, including internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, five sense organs, and geriatric diseases, totaling over 400 conditions. Each condition includes discussions on pathogenesis, pulse diagnosis, treatment methods, prescriptions, simplified remedies, moxibustion, and conduction exercises. Volumes 93 to 98 contain secret recipes, materia medica properties, functions, preparation methods, and general prescriptions. Volumes 99 to 100 are dedicated to additional notes on health preservation.

In addition to citing ancient theories, Xu provides insights into medical principles and prescriptions. The biographies of medical practitioners included are valuable resources for the study of medical history.
