"Nei" (內), medial; "xi" (膝), knee; "yan" (眼), eye. The depressions on both sides of patellar ligament at knee joint resemble eye sockets, hence the name "Xiyan" (knee eye). The point located on the medial side is specifically called "Neixiyan" (medial knee eye).
