【Origin】

This point has the function of calming and calming the mind, and can treat insomnia, dysphoria and other diseases, allowing people to sleep peacefully, hence the name Anmian.

【Location】

is located behind the ear, at the midpoint of the line connecting Yifeng (TE17) and Fengchi (GB20). The acupoint is selected at the midpoint between the depression on the outer edge of the nuchal muscle bulge and the submastoid depression where the sternocleidomast muscle terminates.

【Anatomy】

At the stop of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, there are branches of the lateral carotid artery and vein, the occipital artery, branches of the greater auricular nerve and the lesser occipital nerve.

【Manipulation】

Perpendicular insertion 0.5~2 inches, needling sensation, throbbing, numbness to the shoulder. Moxibustion for 3 to 5 days.

• Inner ear vertigo: Yintang (EX-HN3), Neiguan (PC6), Anmian; acupoints: Tinggong (SI19), Fengchi (GB20).
• Meniere's syndrome: Anmian, Tinggong (SI19); liver fire plus Hegu (LI4), Taichong (LR3), Ganshu (BL18) (laxative method); phlegm turbid upper scrambling plus Fenglong (ST40), Neiguan (PC6) (laxative method); for kidney yin deficiency, add Shenshu (BL23), Neiguan (PC6) (tonifying method).
