[Origin]

The zygomatic arch is placed horizontally like a guan, and the point is below it, opposite to the Shangguan (GB3) point.

Xiaguan (ST7) acupoint

• Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "Under Guest, under the preauricular artery Xialian (LI8), There is a hole in the mouth, and it closes when it is opened."

[Anatomy]

• Muscles: There is the parotid gland under the skin, which is the starting point of the masseter muscle.
• Nerves: zygomatic branch of facial nerve, auriculotemporal branch of mandibular nerve; the deepest layer is the mandibular nerve.
• Vessels: transverse facial artery and vein, the deepest layer is the maxillary artery and vein.

[Manipulation]

Perpendicular insertion or oblique insertion 0.5 to 1.5 inches toward the ear. No moxibustion.

[Efficacy]

dispelling wind, sharp ears, sharp teeth.

• Classical: tinnitus earache, toothache, tooth dislocation disease, vertigo, crooked mouth and eyes, pus in the ears, deafness, ringing, swollen neck, chronic wind-cold, gum pain, bad wind-cold, do not chew, spasm.
• Modern: trigeminal neuralgia, facial nerve palsy, otitis media, temporomandibular arthritis.

• tinnitus deafness: Xiaguan (ST7), Yangxi (LI5), Guanchong (TE1), axillary door ,Yanggu (SI5).
• dental caries pain: Xiaguan (ST7), Daying (ST5), Yifeng (TE17), Wangu (GB12 ).
• Trismus: Xiaguan (ST7), Jiache (ST6), Hegu (LI4), Waiguan (TE5) .
• Temporomandibular arthritis: Xiaguan (ST7), Tinggong (SI19), Yifeng (TE17), Hegu (LI4 ).
• tinnitus, deafness, ear pain: Xiaguan (ST7), Ermen (TE21), Tinggong (SI19), Yifeng (TE17), Waiguan (TE5).
