[Origin]

Lian, Tongyu, tide; spring, Shuiquan (KI5). The point is close to the sublingual gland and is related to body fluids. It is also called a spring-like place where meridian qi originates, hence its name. The cave is located in the depression on the upper edge of the hyoid bone, so it is also called "tongue base" and "benchi".

[Anatomy]

  • Muscles: mylohyoid muscle, geniohyoid muscle, tongue body.

  • Modern: Pharyngitis, acute throat wind, plum-stone qi (globus hystericus), aphonia, vocal cord disease, glottal muscle spasm, soft palate paralysis, pseudobulbar palsy, aphasia, hysteria, tonsil swelling and pain, acute mumps.
