"Ju" (巨), great or large; "que" (闕), palace gate. The acupoint is located on the midline near heart, a passageway for spirit and energy, resembling gate to palace where heart (the ruler) resides.

Juque (CV14) acupoint

Located on the midline of upper abdomen, 6 cun above umbilicus. It is the midpoint between xiphisternal junction (where sternum and xiphoid process meet) and
Zhongwan (CV12).

- Muscles: in linea alba of abdomen; deep layer is liver.
- Nerve: medial branch of anterior cutaneous branch of 7th intercostal nerve.
- Vessels: branches of superior epigastric artery and vein.

Insert perpendicularly or obliquely downward 0.5~1 cun. Alternatively, perform a subcutaneous penetration toward Huangshu (KI16). Avoid deep insertion. Moxibustion with moxa cone 3 to 7 times, moxibustion with moxa stick for 15 to 20 minutes.
