[Origin]

Wan, or "tube", refers to the stomach and intestines. The point is near the lower part of the stomach, hence its name.

[Anatomy]

  • Muscles: in the abdominal line alba; deep layer is the transverse colon.
  • Nerve: medial branch of the anterior cutaneous branch of the eighth intercostal nerve.
  • Vessel: The junction of the branches of the superior and inferior epigastric arteries.

[Manipulation]

Perpendicular insertion 1~1.5 inches. moxa cone moxibustion 3 to 7 days, moxa stick warm moxibustion for 15 to 20 minutes.

[Efficacy]

  • Classical: fluid retention, inability to eat, blocked diaphragm, inability to digest food, vomiting hiccup, abdominal hardness, abdominal pain, stomach distension disease, constipation, swelling, red urine.
  • Modern: dyspepsia, peptic ulcer, gastroptosis, gastric volvulus, acute intestinal obstruction, dysentery.

  • Food fluid retention does not dissolve, enters the abdomen and comes out: Xiawan (CV10), Sanli.
  • Bowel sounds: Xiawan (CV10), Xiangu (ST43).
