On the midline of head, 2 cun behind anterior hairline, 3 cun in front of
Baihui (GV20).
- Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "1 cun behind Shangxing (GV23), in the depression between bones";
- Xunjing Kaoxue Bian: "2 cun within anterior hairline".

- Muscle: galea aponeurotica. The deeper layer corresponds to the junction of coronal and sagittal sutures of skull.
- Nerve: branches of frontal nerve.
- Vessel: anastomotic network of left and right superficial temporal artery and vein.

Insert subcutaneously 0.5~1 cun. Extra caution is required for infants with an unclosed fontanel to avoid accidentally injuring the brain.

Dispel wind, clear head and eyes.
- Classical: headache, wind-induced dizziness, swollen face, nasal congestion with loss of smell, nape pain, convulsions, chills and fever, wheezing, inability to see, tearing, frequent vomiting with irritability and fullness, depressive psychosis with frothy vomiting, sudden stiffness and fainting, aversion to wind-cold, red and swollen face, wind-cold entering brain.
