"Chang" (長), long; "qiang" (強), strong.
As the first acupoint of Governor Vessel, which governs all yang meridians, the point has strong qi, hence the name.
Alternate names: "Guiwei" (龜尾, turtle tail) and "Weilü" (尾閭, tail gate), named for its proximity to tailbone.

Located below the tip of coccyx, in the depression behind anus. In a prone position, it is the midpoint between the tip of coccyx and anus.

Assume an elbow-knee position. Insert obliquely upward (at a 45° angle) along the anterior edge of coccyx, 1–1.5 cun. Avoid puncturing rectum.
Direct moxibustion is not recommended. Moxibustion with moxa sticks for 5 to 15 minutes.
