"Chang" (長), long; "qiang" (強), strong. As the first acupoint of Governor Vessel, which governs all yang meridians, the point has strong qi, hence the name. Alternate names: "Guiwei" (龜尾, turtle tail) and "Weilü" (尾閭, tail gate), named for its proximity to tailbone.

Located below the tip of coccyx, in the depression behind anus. In a prone position, it is the midpoint between the tip of coccyx and anus.
