【Origin】
Literal meaning "skull's rest". The point is close to the ear. In ancient times, it was said that "the ear is where the head's breath and pulse meet", hence its name. There is a misconception that "Xi" is "fontanel" (see Zhenjiu Daquan), which is named after the point near the cranial mastoid process, fontanel.
【Location】
Between the back edge of the ear base and the hairline behind the ear, when
Yifeng (TE17) and Jiaosun ACU> (TE20) At the upper 1/3 inflection point along the arc connected to the ear helix. About the same level as
Ermen (TE21).
- Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "Collateral vessel between the ears";
- Xunjing Kaoxue Bian: "Behind the ears and upward, go to Chimai for about four or five minutes." Zhenjiu Jicheng: "One inch larger on Chimai".
【Anatomy】
- Muscles: temporalis membrane and temporalis muscle.
- Nerve: the converging branch of the greater auricular nerve and the lesser occipital nerve.
- Vessels: Postauricular artery and vein.
【Manipulation】
Transverse insertion or oblique insertion of 0.3 to 0.5 inches into the ear, or pricking. Moxa stick warm moxibustion for 5 to 15 minutes.

calming fright, relieving stuffy orifices, clear ears.
