bubble_chart Etymology

"Da" (大), big; "ling" (陵), high mound or elevation. This point is located near the raised prominence of wrist bone (lunate bone), resembling a high mound, hence its name.

At the midpoint of transverse crease of wrist, in the depression between tendons of palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis.

  • LingshuBenshu: "Below the square between two bones behind palm";
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "In the depression between two tendons behind palm", Qianjin Yaofang: "Alternatively, in the depression between two tendons behind first transverse crease of palm";
  • Donggong Anmo Mijue: " At the exact center of transverse crease of palm".

  • Muscles: radial side, tendon of flexor carpi radialis; ulnar side, tendon of palmaris longus; flexor pollicis longus, flexor digitorum superficialis, and flexor digitorum profundus tendons.
  • Nerve: dual distribution of medial and lateral cutaneous nerves of forearm, palmar cutaneous branch of median nerve; deeply, the trunk of median nerve.
  • Vessel: palmar carpal arterial and venous network.

The perpendicular insertion is 0.3 to 0.5 cun. Avoid inserting too deeply to prevent injury to main trunk of median nerve. Moxa stick warm moxibustion for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Classical: heart pain, palpitation, irritability, heat in chest, epigastralgia, vomiting, hematemesis, manic and depressive psychosis, epilepsy, pharyngitis, tinnitus, malaria, pain at root of tongue, incessant laughing, red and yellow eyes, wheezing, feverish body, splitting headache, shortness of breath with chest pain, contracted hands with inability to extend, sores and itching, and finger numbness.
  • Modern: myocarditis, gastritis, insomnia, intercostal neuralgia, carpal tunnel syndrome.
