Xi-cleft point.

bubble_chart Etymology

"Shui" (水), water; "quan" (泉), spring or fountain. Kidney governs water metabolism, and the acupoint is the xi-cleft point of foot shaoyin meridian, relating to urine excretion, hence the name.

On medial side of foot, inferior and posterior to medial malleolus, 1 cun directly below Taixi (KI3), in the depression on medial side of calcaneal tuberosity.
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "1 cun below Taixi (KI3), beneath medial malleolus of foot";
  • Xunjing Kaoxue Bian: "Located below medial malleolus, close to the bone, in the depression between two bones of heel".

  • Nerve: medial cutaneous branch of saphenous nerve, medial calcaneal branch of tibial nerve.
