3 inches below the spinous process of the third thoracic vertebra on the back (
Shenzhu (GV12)), which is the depression beside the medial end of the scapula. Internally tied with
Feishu (BL13).
[Anatomy]
- Muscles: trapezius, rhomboids, the deep layer is the iliocostalis (the lungs are inside the chest, when the lower lobe of the lungs).
- Nerves: lateral cutaneous branches of the posterior branches of the second and third thoracic nerves, and the deep layer is the dorsal scapular nerve.
- Vessels: dorsal branch of the third intercostal artery, descending branch of the transverse cervical artery.
[Manipulation]
The oblique insertion is 0.5~0.8 inches, and should not be too deep to avoid accidentally entering the chest and injuring the lungs. moxa cone moxibustion 3 to 7 weeks, moxa stick warm moxibustion for 10 to 15 minutes.
[Efficacy]
Soothe the lungs and replenish deficiency.
- Classical: shoulder pain, back pain and neck pain, vomiting, irritability, cough, consumptive disease, lung atrophy, body heat and fatigue.
- Modern: Wind-dampness pain in back muscles.
[Recipe]
- lung cold: hot, unable to lie down for breathing, cough, vomiting and wheezing. Phase chasing: Zhongfu (LU1), Pohu (BL42).
- Don't worry about the neck: Jianjing (GB21), Pohu (BL42).
