Wei means bending; Yang means the outside. The point is located in the middle of the knee bend and outside the Weizhong (BL40) point, hence the name.

The lateral end of the popliteal crease at the knee bend and the depression at the medial edge of the biceps femoris tendon.

  • Muscle: On the lateral side is the biceps femoris tendon. The deep layer is the lateral head of the gastrocnemius muscle, the initial tendon of the popliteus muscle, and the metatarsus muscle.
  • Nerves: posterior femoral cutaneous nerve, common peroneal nerve.
  • Vessels: lateral arteries and veins above the knee.
