The back of the wrist is "Yang" (陽); the depression is "Xi" (溪). The acupoint is located in the depression between two tendons on the dorsal side of the wrist.

On the dorsal radial side of the wrist, in the depression between the tendon of the abductor pollicis longus and the tendon of the extensor pollicis brevis. When the thumb is extended, the point is at the center of the snuffbox.

  • LingshuBenshu: "In the depression between two tendons";
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "In the depression between the two sides on the upper side of the wrist";
  • Xunjing Kaoxue Bian: "Aligned with Taiyuan (LU9), directly face the metatarsal of index finger, with an artery at the bony prominence."
  • Zhenjiu Fengyuan: "Spread thumb and index finger, and locate the point."

  • Muscles: the extensor pollicis longus tendon on the dorsal side and the extensor pollicis brevis tendon on the volar side. The deep dorsal part is the extensor carpi radialis longus tendon. The deepest layer is the navicular bone.
  • Nerve: superficial branch of radial nerve.
  • Vessels: There is a cephalic vein in the subcutaneous tissue. The deep palmar part is the main trunk of the radial artery and its dorsal wrist branch.

Dispel wind and discharge fire.

  • Classical: headache, red eye pain, blindness, deafness, tinnitus, pharyngitis, wrist pain, toothache, inability to raise elbows and arms, heat in the palms, pain in the tongue, convulsions, false talk, vexation, cough and vomiting.
  • Modern: dental neuralgia, indigestion in children, stenosing tenosynovitis of the radial styloid process.
