The point is located below the spinous process of first lumbar vertebra (Xuanshu (GV5)), 1.5 cun lateral to the midline.

- Muscles: between lumbar membrane, longissimus and iliocostalis.
- Nerve: the end of lateral cutaneous branch of posterior branch of 10th thoracic nerve; deep layer, lateral branch of posterior branch of 1st lumbar nerve and upper 2 to 3 lateral branches.
- Vessel: medial branch of dorsal branch of 1st lumbar artery and vein.

Perpendicular or oblique insertion 1 to 1.5 cun to the side of the spine. Moxibustion with moxa cone 3 to 7 times, moxibustion with moxa stick for 10 to 15 minutes.

- Classical: headache, inability to eat, abdominal distension and fullness, bowel sounds, vomiting, diarrhea, low back pain, chills and fever, difficulty in urination, shoulder and back tension, bloody urine , abdominal mass, bitter taste and cracked lips, consumptive thirst, vomiting, dizziness, red and white dysentery, edema.
- Modern: gastritis, enteritis, renal colic, nephritis, abdominal retention of water, urinary retention, enuresis, neurasthenia.
