[Origin]

The sky refers to the head; the nape muscle is raised like a pillar, and the acupuncture point is next to it. Hence the name.

Posterior hairline, at the depression on the outer edge of the trapezius muscle, 1.3 inches lateral to the center of the posterior hairline.
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "After Xia Xiang hairline, among those who are strong and honest";
  • Xunjing Kaoxue Bian: "The back of the head hairline is an inch and a half open in the middle, and the big ribs are deep in the outside, and the joint is Fengchi (GB20) and an inch and a half lower.     [Anatomy]

    • Muscles: The origin of the trapezius muscle, and the deep layer is the semispinalis capitis muscle.
    • Nerve: Ascending part of the greater occipital nerve trunk.
    • Vessels: occipital artery, venous trunk.

    [Manipulation]

    Perpendicular insertion 0.5~1 inch. Direct moxibustion is prohibited and warm moxibustion with moxa sticks should be performed for 5 to 15 minutes.

    [Efficacy]

    Clears away heat, dispelling wind, improving vision, and relieving orifices.

    • Classical: heavy head pain, shoulder and back pain, vertigo, blindness, redness and pain in the eyes, eyes weeping, eyes peeling off, nape pulling out, nape strong and bad wind, epilepsy, convulsions, Abnormality, Rebing, inability to sweat, stuffy nose, swollen throat, fright epilepsy in children, retrograde eyes, and indifference.
    • Modern: Esophageal spasm, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, retinal membrane hemorrhage.

    • Reverse, heavy-headed and dizzy: Tianzhu (BL10), Dazhu (BL11).
    • headache: Tianzhu (BL10), Taodao (GV13), Dazhu (BL11), Kongzui (LU6), Houxi (SI3).
    • Dizziness, blurred vision, blurred vision: Tianzhu (BL10), Taodao (GV13).
    • The eyes feel stiff and the shoulder is painful: Tianzhu (BL10), Yanglao (SI6).
