[Origin]

The ears are for listening, and the palace is in the middle. The acupoint is in the center in front of the tragus, hence the name.

If the needle is inserted 2.5 inches deep forward and downward (contralateral masseter muscle) at an 85° angle, it can cross the posterior edge of the mandibular capitellum and the front of the styloid process, and reach between the posterior pharyngeal wall and the anterior edge of the 1st to 2nd cervical vertebrae. Direct moxibustion and warm moxibustion with moxa sticks are prohibited for 10 to 15 minutes.
